This award has only been given to five artists. Michael Jackson was awarded with a special lifetime achievement award at the NRJ Awards in Cannes, France on January 26, 2008. The NRJ is Europe’s biggest private radio chain.

The National Recording Registry preserves recorded works that are considered culturally or historically important. The recordings aren’t all music. Others that have been added include the first Trans-Atlantic broadcast from 1925 and the ‘Sounds of Earth’ disc prepared for the Voyager spacecraft in 1977

The THRILLER Album…was indeed and continues to be the biggest selling album of all time. Michael wanted that to be so…and promised himself that album would be the best. It also saved the music industry which was going through a huge slump. So when people came in to buy THRILLER…they also bought other albums..and thus the music industry was revived. I wonder how many people realize that? Even if they did, would they thank Michael Jackson for his huge contribution? They would have to admit that he was the best, and the most outstanding musician and performer on the planet. He still is….and he isn’t here. Then when the THRILLER video came out, it became the catalyst for more sales. Thanks to Michael. It won every award under the sun….I haven’t counted the numerous awards Michael has been given, am sure the number is in the hundreds. We were lucky to be living in this era…and I was so fortunate to have known him for as long as I did. He was an absolute phenomenal human being and artists. And humanitarian….all of it adds up to this man’s legacy….
