WISHES*DREAMS*GOALS

WHEN HE WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD, MICHAEL JACKSON TOLD A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER IN GARY, INDIANA, THAT HE KNEW WHAT HE WANTED WHEN HE GREW UP BECAUSE HIS MIND WAS SET…“I WOULD LIKE TO BE A GREAT ENTERTAINER.”  Ebony 1984

“It’s been my dream since I was a child to somehow unite people of the world through love and music.” Michael Jacksonenglish

“l always told Michael, ‘you only get out of life what you put into it.’  I think those words stayed with him.  Michael always knew what he wanted to do and how far he wanted to go.  He believed in hard work, a positive attitude and perseverance.  No matter what he set out to do in his career, he wouldn’t settle to just be ‘good’…it had to be his best.  He worked tenaciously for as long as it took until he was satisfied with the outcome.  His efforts did not stop there either.  Above and beyond his tenacity was his vision.

Michael would often write notes to himself.  Sometimes he would scribble down a target date for his album to top the charts on his mirror, so he would see it every day as a reminder.  He would then work and strategize toward actualizing his goal.  Equally as ambitious, Michael always set very high professional targets for himself to surpass.  He strived to be the best in his field, and to give everything he had to achieve his dream.  For example, before the success of the THRILLER album, Michael was vocal about his intention to create the highest selling record of all time.  He was a visionary and specific in his ambition.”  Katherine Jackson NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE  2010rehearsal

“EVER SINCE I WAS A LITTLE BOY, I HAD DREAMED OF CREATING THE BIGGEST-SELLING RECORD OF ALL TIME.  I REMEMBER GOING SWIMMING AS A CHILD AND MAKING A WISH BEFORE I JUMPED INTO THE POOL.  REMEMBER, I GREW UP KNOWING THE INDUSTRY, UNDERSTANDING GOALS, AND BEING TOLD WHAT WAS AND WAS NOT POSSIBLE.  I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL.  I’D STRETCH MY ARMS OUT, AS IF I WERE SENDING MY THOUGHTS RIGHT UP INTO SPACE.  I’D MAKE A WISH, THEN I’D DIVE INTO THE WATER.  I’D SAY TO MYSELF, ‘THIS IS MY DREAM.  THIS IS MY WISH,’ EVERY TIME BEFORE I’D DIVE INTO THE WATER.

I BELIEVE IN WISHES AND IN A PERSON’S ABILITY TO MAKE A WISH COME TRUE.  I REALLY DO.  WHENEVER I SAW A SUNSET, I WOULD QUIETLY MAKE MY SECRET WISH RIGHT BEFORE THE SUN TUCKED UNDER THE WESTERN HORIZON AND DISAPPEARED.  IT WOULD SEEM AS IF THE SUN HAD TAKEN MY WISH WITH IT.  I’D MAKE IT RIGHT BEFORE THAT LAST SPECK OF LIGHT VANISHED.  AND A WISH IS MORE THAN A WISH, IT’S A GOAL.  IT’S SOMETHING YOUR CONSCIOUS AND SUBCONSCIOUS CAN HELP MAKE REALITY.”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLIdKaw72tYunchanged

“There are people out there who don’t actively hold you back as much as they work quietly on your insecurities so that you hold yourself back.”

ADVICE FOR DREAMERS

“You just have to put your mind to what you’re doing.  No matter what, the most powerful thing in the world is the human mind…and prayer…and belief in yourself…and confidence…and perseverance.  No matter how many times you do it, do it again until it’s right.  Always believe in yourself.  And, no matter who’s around you that’s being negative or thrusting negative energy at you…totally block it off.  Because, whatever you believe you become.  Yes!  And after all of that, the most important, most important is to stay humble, the humbleness, like a new-born baby has…even though you become powerful or have power with people with your talent.  Be as humble as a child, as a baby.  Be kind and giving and loving.  I attribute that to my parents who always taught us to persevere.  Believe in yourself.  Have confidence no matter what you do, even if you’re sweeping floors or painting ceilings.  Do it better than anybody in the world.  No matter what it is that you do, be the best at it.  Have respect for others and be proud of yourself.  If the whole world says NO, you say YES!”  Michael Jackson in conversation… Tribute Portrait Inspiring you to dream!hot

Intellect, heart, soul, character…the continuous struggle defining who I am.  Michael was so sure of who he was and what God really wanted him to do.  I am not always sure.  I guess when I think about it, it’s all wrapped up in faith.  Instead of trying to convince God of MY plan, I need to be a better listener and ask the question Michael always asked, “What do you have planned for me next, God?”  It’s scary to think about the future sometimes.  How do I try to love the uncertainty?  How do I cope with injustices in the world?  One thing I am sure of..as long as I try to “make a little space to make a better place…HEAL THE WORLD” and “START WITH THE MAN IN THE MIRROR” I will be on the right tract.  Never give up and never give in.  With those words, I leave you today. My wishes and dreams are for a better world.  My goal is to share all that I am learning with you.
