In our name, and behind our backs, tabloid media has sustained an erosion of our liberties.  Time and time again, lies have been presented as truth, reality altered beyond recognition.  With no guard on the sword, the blade has been sharpened through repeated use, absent an outraged public.  It has been referred to as the “dumbing down” of minds.  We passively take it all in, digest its fodder, and subliminally believe it.  At least, that is what powerful media groups and talking heads hope.  The lack of professionalism and ethical conduct make subverting real journalism easy.  We in the Michael Jackson Community feel the assault daily.  Our anguish grows when we remember that Michael was viciously attacked for decades.  We feel a profoundness of injustice, knowing Michael’s children must live in this environment.  Beyond that, the double standard…that is, how we treat people and how we treat Michael, hardens the blows.

“Instead of supporting Michael Jackson and his friends in this gigantic task to do something  to heal  the world, the media have pounced on his person with speculations and sensationalism.  For decades we were supplied with the ego trips of reporters.  While pure journalism means communication of facts, many reporters make their money with speculations.  Facts are mostly boring as shit.  With facts there is not much money earned and one cannot inflate one’s ego.  Only reports which produce an outcry of the whole nation sell well.  The sentence, ‘Michael Jackson has had an operation because his nose bone was broken,’ has no worth as news.  Nobody is interested in something like that.  There has to be invented something more so that the sanctimonious can be indignant, disgusted, and cry loud, ‘Ugh,’ or ‘Baah,’ like sheep.

We need stories and tales to take our minds off things.  And to make the story believable also for the non-believers, experts are brought in.  These experts are on their own ego trip and don’t want to disappear again too quickly from the spotlight.  That means that they need a story:  ‘Michael Jackson’s nose is starting to crumble away.’  Wow, I need to know more about that, quickly buying a journal.  What is written therein?  Some suppositions, some assumptions, some banalities, and for every common sense item only bullshit.  Some pictures added so that everyone can see it.  Have you already heard about photo montages?  And already the chumps have their proof.  Michael called it ‘TRASH’…

Taken a step further, live broadcast isn’t really LIVE.  It is manipulated, apportioned…presented in a twisted manner.  The viewer thinks he is getting the complete coverage…but, GUESS WHAT?

We are faced with a choice.  Do we become actively involved to create change in public perception?  Do we spend our money to see what it is that tabloids are saying about Michael?  Do we write articles, share information with MJ Communities?  And, when do we decide enough is enough?  When do we change from being pulled down into the mud and, instead, educate the world.  When do we change our direction and work actively to birth Michael’s messages?  These are tough questions.  Each of us brings a set of unique gifts and talents, giving authentic credibility to cause.

Whenever I am in doubt, I turn to Michael for answers.  He was very clear about not feeding the beast.  He was very clear about message.  And, he knew that he could depend on his Fans to make change in the world.  He gave little time and energy to trash.  When he felt it necessary to set the record straight, he gave an interview, he created a lyric.  Getting it wrong time and time again, the media and haters, with limited knowledge, hidden agendas and low-ceiling imaginations, interpreted Michael’s artistry in a single dimension.  The truth is, EVERYTHING Michael created inspired global discussion.  He forever reminded us to take great care with age old individual rights.  He was passionate about the welfare of children.  His heart was on the line, every minute, of every day, of every year, of his all-too-short life.

If money is what keeps tabloid trash in business, then, our choice is easy.  DON’T BUY IT!  DON’T CLICK ON IT!  DON’T WATCH IT!  However, that is not enough.  The next step is to EDUCATE THE WORLD WITH THE TRUTH.  I really believe that with all my heart.

Those who hate are at a great disadvantage.  Their mission is to destroy.  Beyond that, they have nothing to hold onto.  There is no heart in it…therefore their hearts are not on  the line.  Ours is a journey of LOVE.  WE KNOW WHAT WE KNOW.  “WE HAVE THE TRUTH…this is our mission to see it through.  This is our planet, you’re one of us.  We’re sending out a major love, and this is our message to you.  The planets are lining up, bringing brighter days…they’re all in line, waiting for you…YOU’RE JUST ANOTHER PART OF ME.”  That ME is Michael.  Each day we have choices to make in our efforts to actively defend Michael…AND, to heal  our world and make it a better place.
